it's spring time and everyone else is falling in love.

and i'm just over here pretending i know how to be a fashion blogger....

shirt: Ann Taylor (thefted from mum) // skirt: thrifted // shoes: thefted from sister // watch: vintage Elgin

so i suppose this is where i rant about how everyone i know is either married and/or in love, but that sounds like a topic with some potential whining so we'll skip it all together and talk about how much i want a puppy. psych. i'll just tell you how excited i was to find this skirt! it was only $5 so i just haaaad to get it! (cause the 765432098 skirts already in my wardrobe just weren't enough)

drat, i had so many things that came across my head today that i was like "oh hey that would make a good blog post" and then i got a headache and there just wasn't any more room in my noggin for interesting things. i almost just used parenthesis instead of quotation marks. i should sleep.

My head is clearing like the sky

Today was primarily spent in the car "ooo" ing and "ahh"ing at the beauty of the earth we humans get to enjoy so much. The past few days have been been spent in contemplation and gratitude for a few wake up calls I so desperately needed. I'm starting to be reminded of Happiness's relationship with Choices.

It's a glorious and terrifying feeling to let go of things that are easy, and actually prepare myself for consequences of better choices.

This post was ambiguous. Everyone else in this house is asleep and I think that's my que. night world.

lake time

had a lovely day at the lake with some cool cats shooting long exposures. it twas a grand adventure and seeing the lake at such a beautiful time of day. Also this summer i'm determined to be well versed in Utah's beauty.

a preppy outfit and a few thoughts

top: ralph lauren //  pants: thrifted and refashioned // shoes: sperry's

I'm bumming around at my Grandparents house in Logan as we slowly make out way to Spokane. This drive usually takes us one day but we're spreading it across three so we can stop and visit with relatives along the way. My grandparents just got Cataract surgery this week and they are recovering like champs. My grandpa is 94, my grandma 88 and have been married for 68 years. SIXTY-EIGHT YEARS. that my friends is the kind of commitment that is just plain inpsiring. My grandma has quite a bit of trouble with short term memory and more and more my grandpa is taking care of her. It's such a testimony of love to me to see his unfailing devotion to her and how he takes care of her.

watching my grandparents interact combined with some good conversations with close friends this week has given me a few wake up calls and helped me to really figure out what I want, and not settling for less than i deserve. it's been great. i feel like i'm growing with each day and recognizing what parts of me still need work, but thats all part of the process right?

may is for floral prints and shorts.

shirt:f21 // shorts & shoes: thrifted

Three paragraphs that have little to do with eachother:

i'm going home next week and i'm way excited because that means visits to my favorite thrift stores! i'm starting to see the reality of a student budget...combined with the incessant urge to finally invest in a full frame camera...my shopping budget is next to nothing right now. But you know what? having limits foster creativity more than anything, so i say bring it on!

it's a weird transition right now. I just got through the most stressful/anxiety-inducing/sleep-deprived design-monkey week of my life and now i have free time. like real free time... like so much that i can't even figure out what to do with myself. i've been reading. READING GUYS! . i forget how much i love reading. oh before i forget, anybody got some reading suggestions?

springtime seems to have entered quietly and full of magic. sun out, windows down, taylor swift at the top of our lungs kind of magic. I made a bucket list of the summer months and i fully intend to blissfully spend the next four months in pursuit of adventure. Also, i promise to keep y'all included in said adventures because i've missed the blogger world!

mems that whole BFA thing? well...

This whole semester i have been neglecting my poor blog. I wish i could give some grandiose excuse but it really comes down to priorities. all the time i would typically spend blogging i poured into prepping to get into the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) program here at BYU. In the next few days i'll be updating my portfolio website (my harddrive crashed a few months ago and i just got it back with all the data) so you can see some of these up close and personal once i do that.

anyway, it was all worth it. I was able to put things in my portfolio that i was genuinely proud of. and it paid off because...

 I GOT IN!

i've been working towards this since i got into the BA program about a year and a half ago so it's pretty rewarding to be at this point. It's one of those moments in my life where i finally have some clarity and concrete direction of where i'm going and it makes me endlessly happy.

Allie's Bridal Shower

So i didn't get all pinteresty or anything for Allie's bridal shower, but Melissa and I made some delicious food to celebrate her pending nuptials. Sometimes i feel like i'm the one getting married haha, i'm the maid of honor, photographer, and designer... i essentially am the wedding. ha jokes.

it's a good time, but mostly it's my ploy to make her spend as much as i can before she falls off the earth into newlywed land and moves away.

it's a strange thing. i don't feel old enough for all my friends to be getting married, and yet i feel like it's completely natural that so many are. It's a strange place in life, like i'm almost grown up. I like this place, it's an interesting place to explore.

anyways... to the pictures!

some of the girls had to leave early, but we did manage to get a group picture with most of the guests! :)

one of the games we played was "Nielson Lingo Bingo" because Allie started saying weird words whens he started dating Ty last year. we used those words and she explained how to use them in a sentence, so we consider it a learning experience!
